The annual track and field sports meet was held on May 13th and 14th, 2014. The event attracted thousands of students, including 34 Ethiopian students to participate. Compared to last year, there were many more students actively participating in the games this year. Members of the management made their presences at the opening and closing ceremonies.
At the opening ceremony, our vice president, Mr. Yang Guilin, delivered an inspiring speech. Vice president, Ms. Xu Qun hosted the opening ceremony. Han Surong and Wang Fu, took an oath on behalf of all athletes and referees. Ethiopian students presented African style dances to all the students and teachers. Students from six departments brought us traditional Chinese dances and Martial Arts show, demonstrating the sportsmanship of our athletes.
Athletes competed fiercely for the first places in all events. Ethiopian students impressed all the audiences with their never-give-up spirit. Though the competitions were intense, athletes still held the spirit of “friendship first, competition second”. After two days competition, 22 students broke the college records in different games.
Vice-president, Mr. Zhang Qikun hosted the closing ceremony. Secretary of Party Committee Mr. Hu Junlin was invited to present the awards to athletes. The sports meet was successfully closed with a speech from Mr. Cao Yanguo, deputy Secretary of the Party.
